eSIM – Usage, Setup & Notes. Compact guide for iOS & Android. Please check compatibility & SIM lock in advance.

How can I use the service?

  • iOS: iPhone XR/XS or newer, iOS 12.1+ and unlocked (no SIM lock).
  • Android: Many current Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, etc. (model-dependent).
  • Locked devices cannot install external eSIM profiles.

When is eSIM useful?

  • Add a local data plan when traveling.
  • Use eSIM for data; keep calls/SMS on physical SIM (Dual-SIM).

Set up eSIM on iOS

  1. Buy a data plan from SilentSim.
  2. Receive QR code by email.
  3. Settings → Mobile Data → Add Cellular Plan → Scan QR → Label (e.g., “eSIM”).
  4. Use Mobile Data Only via eSIM; check APN if necessary.

Set up eSIM on Android

  1. Buy a data plan.
  2. Receive QR code by email.
  3. Settings → Network & Internet → Mobile Network → Add eSIM / Scan QR.
  4. Check APN under Access Point Names (APN) if necessary.

Network & Speed

  • Mostly 4G/LTE, sometimes 5G – depending on country/coverage.

Calls & SMS

  • Data plan – no traditional calls/SMS included.
  • Calls/messages via apps (e.g., WhatsApp, FaceTime, Skype).

Dual-SIM Notes

  • Data via eSIM; voice/SMS on physical SIM.
  • Confirm messages like "Unverified plan" with OK.

Data Roaming

  • Activate for eSIM (Settings → Mobile Data → Data Roaming).
  • Deactivate after your trip, if desired.

Remove eSIM

  • eSIM profile can be deleted at any time in device settings.

Delivery & Duration

  • QR code arrives by email (check spam folder).
  • Duration starts depending on the plan with the eSIM's first network connection.

Check Data Usage

  • On the device (e.g., iOS: Settings → Mobile Data → Mobile Data Usage).
